Thomas D. Mangelsen Framed Art

Guardian of the Knight Inlet by Thomas D. Mangelsen; Wide rustic gallery frame.

Symbolic of wildness and of British Columbia's Rain Coast, a lone black bear pauses to survey his domain. From Knight Inlet to Alaska's border, the Great Bear Rainforest is one of the largest contiguous temperate rain forests left on earth. However, the rusty coiled cable tells a different story: One of clear-cut logging and huge barges anchored to rocky shorelines, waiting for what once was vast stands of thousand year-old cedar and Sitka spruce to be loaded on board.

About the Artist:

Thomas D. Mangelsen is one of the most influential nature photographers in the world. His images, treasured as collectible fine art, are known for their awe-inspiring portrayals of wildlife and natural landscapes. Like Ansel Adams, Eliot Porter and others who came before him, Mangelsen has explored Earth’s wildest regions, carrying on the photographic tradition of bearing witness.
